Bachelor’s study programme Environmental Systems Sciences – Geography
Environmental awareness is continuously increasing today. Attempts to solve complex problems often fail due to the one-sided, linear approach of specialists. The Bachelor’s study programme Environmental Systems Sciences (ESS) aims at educating interdisciplinarily educated academics, who are capable to use knowledge from more than one field for an improved way of viewing, handling, and solving problems in a broader context. The basic idea of ESS is, besides a sound subject-specific education (Geography in the present case), to impart basic knowledge and the thinking of other disciplines in order to be able to build links between those disciplines. The aim of the programme is to enable graduates to work in an interdisciplinary team and to provide linkages between the different fields of knowledge.
