Master’s study programme Environmental Systems Sciences Geography – Applied Human-Environment-Research (USW / Geo-AMU)

The master’s study programme USW / Geo-AMU is one of six different master programmes in environmental systems sciences (ESS) at the University of Graz. This master’s study programme comprises studies in the core field geography, extension to other fields by means of mandatory and free electives, linking of the disciplines through interdisciplinary and problem solution-oriented practical training and basic knowledge from the fields of systems sciences, mathematics and statistics. Environmental changes are very much linked to human action. Challenges for a sustainable development and an improvement of living conditions arising from these changes require interdisciplinary approaches. The focus is not only to analyse different system elements but also to study the dynamics of the system and how different elements interact with each other. Graduates of the master’s study programme Environmental Systems Sciences Geography – Applied Human-Environment-Research are capable to understand complex relationships in an interdisciplinary manner and to lead work on related problem solutions.
